Customers can relax, knowing their beautiful garden furniture is made from sustainably sourced wood

Posted on July 02nd 2019

Research shows that being out in the garden is associated with wellness and relaxation.   The garden is a respite, an escape from the hurly burly of work, commuting and stress.  At the same time, we have also seen the trend for transferring elements of indoor living to the outdoors, with demand for greater comfort, relaxation and style whether reclining whilst observing garden wildlife, or dining with family and friends.

But rest and relaxation are not all that matter to the UK public, 95%* of whom are concerned about the environment and sustainability, such that it was the theme of a HTA event – “Sustainability Matters” – in April this year, discussing issues such as use of plastics and responsible sourcing.  This trend is set to continue, with further research suggesting that Millennials, in their online-savvy world, are increasingly aware of the impact their buying decisions can have.

Nature offers the solution

If the garden provides Mother nature’s most handy form of respite, she also provides the loveliest of materials for helping us to enjoy it: wood.
Wood, when sustainably sourced and pressure treated, is seen to be very environmentally friendly and sustainable.  High profile organisation, WWF considers FSC® to be the most credible, rigorous certification scheme available to ensure environmentally responsible management of forest**.  Zest 4 Leisure are proud to create their extensive range of garden products using FSC® certified timber.

Opportunity – perfectly presented

Retailers can take advantage of the opportunity by making use of the free Zest 4 Leisure POS and media support packages for garden centre groups and independent stores, remembering to highlight the 10 year guarantee against rot on furniture and fencing.
